Greetings Filter lovers:

This is Lou Hevly and I'm the keeper of the archives for this maillist, which
you can find at
http://www.visca.com/ffactory/archives/

There are now three gz-tarred files for past postings:

10-12_97.tar.gz (Oct-Dec, 1997)
1-6_98.tar.gz (Jan-June, 1998)
7-12_98 .tar.gz (July-Dec, 1998)

These files contain html versions of all the postings for the months in
question, organized by date, thread and author. They are an excellent
resource.

To open, if you use WinZip, just double-click the file. You should get a
message saying "the archive contains one file; open it?"; say "yes". Then
extract the files into an ff_archive directory, being sure that the "Use
folder names" option is checked. There will be a separate directory for each
month. Open any month's directory and choose "maillist.html", "threads.html"
or "authlist.html". You're ready to browse.

If you want to search these archives, open a window for the ff_archives
directory and hit F3; Windows' search window will pop up. Now choose the
"Advanced" tab and write your search string in the text window.

The current year's postings are still organized by month on-line. I'd be
happy to answer any questions anyone has.
